Bacteria are prokaryotic microorganisms. They are present in many areas on Earth such as soil, water etc. There are approximatively 40 million bacterial cells in a gram of soil and a million of bacterial cells in a millilitre of fresh water. However, there would be approximatively five nonilion (5x1030) bacteria all over the Earth.
