Bacterial biodiversity
This project tends to present and highlight the bacterial biodiversity in the oceans. Moreover, the project aims to show the importance of bacterial biodiversity on the functioning of oceans (food chains, climate regulation...).
- A group of oceanic bacteria (Trichodesmium sp.) that can use dissolved nitrogen
- Extremophil bacteria at high oceanic depth
- Pyrococcus abyssi are chemosynthetic bacteria. They live in extreme conditions (black smokers of oceanic ridges) : their energy source comes from the hydrogen oxydation.
- New nanoplanctonic cyanobacteria that can fix nitrogen
- New nanoplanctonic cyanobacteria modify the knowledge about nitrogen and carbon fixation.
