General organisation of a bacterium

A bacterium is a prokaryotic living being (lack of nucleus and organelles).

Most of the bacteria posseses glucidic cell walls. The  bacteria can be 0.5 to 500µm long, and until the 21st century, the majority of the scientists thought that the smallest were 0.2µm long, but they found out that ultramicrobacteria existed.
